The average person spends 100,000 hours of their life picking out what to wear. JK! We made that ridiculous stat up. But it certainly feels like it takes that much time. (Can we get an amen!) Especially when it’s for your engagement photos.
Don’t fear! We have some killer inspiration coming you way, along with some tips for what photographs best.
Check it out!
And DON’T FORGET!! All of our clients have access to a styling service once they book with us! Please use that to your advantage! Search the theme you’re going for and our service will provide you with some fun inspiration, along with direct links to purchase outfits too!
Your outfit has a lot to do with how much you love your photos, so take some time to coordinate and search for something you really love and feel confident in.
Don’t match. DO coordinate.
When you wear the same colors, everything meshes together. You want colors and styles that compliment the other without blending in. When you match too much, it’s hard to draw out personality. We want your engagement photos to showcase who YOU are!

Accessorize.
Don’t be afraid to spice up your outfit. Let it speak true to who you are! And keep in mind, accessories can go beyond something that you wear. Here are some ideas for accessorizing:
- Scarf
- Layered jewelry
- Hat
- A blanket to snuggle up in
- Champagne to toast with
- Coffee from your fav shop
- A boat
- Pets (horses, your pup, etc.)
- Older car or truck

Empty your pockets.
Phones, wallets, and keys will bulge through your pants and show in your photos. Make sure to empty your pockets out for smooth lines! A simple but important tip.

Choose patterns wisely.
Patterns are totally fine, but just make sure they aren’t too overwhelming. You want your photos to pop, not hypnotize! It’s all about balance… if you wear a pattern, just make sure everything balances out. It helps if you both try your outfits on as you’re picking them out. Stand side-by-side and take a photo on your phone in decent lighting together to see if everything meshes well.

Add texture.
Ohhh how we love texture. Texture adds so much dimension to your photos. Don’t be afraid to play with textures!
- Denim
- Leather
- Velvet
- Lace
- Sheer flowy dress
- Bulky knitted sweater
- Silk
- You name it!

Change it up!
We encourage two outfits for your session. It’ll give you variety as you’re picking out your save the date. Go formal AND casual. Ladies, think flowy or lacy dress for formal and sweater or jumpsuit for casual. Guys, think button down shirt and maybe even a bow tie for formal and polo or sweater for casual. Whatever you do, steer clear of logos. It distracts the eye and draws attention off your love connection.
