Backyard Country Wedding in Humbolt, Illinois

June 26, 2019

There’s something magical about rain. It’s cleansing for the soul. It’s necessary for crops to grow and life to thrive. But on your wedding day? Well… on your wedding day, you expect the birds to be chirping, the sun to be shining, and for everything to just perfectly fall into place.

For Layne and Spencer, that didn’t quite happen. It didn’t just rain. It poured. And it didn’t just pour. Water dumped from the sky. all. day. long. But, it sure was magical.

A wet, muddy wedding day isn’t what Layne and Spencer planned. But the rain didn’t damper their spirits. It ignited them, as love seeped through the clouds on this abnormally misty and chilly day in May.

An airy outdoor ceremony didn’t happen. Instead, Layne and Spencer proclaimed their love for each other in an intimate tent setting, surrounded by family and friends. And though it may not have been what they had dreamed of, it was absolutely perfect just the way it was. At the end of the day, it isn’t the decor, dress, cake, or weather that makes a wedding special. It’s the meaning of it all. And that was more than apparent during this beautiful day that we had the privilege of capturing.

We are so excited for you, Layne and Spencer! Here’s to a life long of dancing in the rain together. We loved every moment of your misty, magical day. ❤️
