Erika and I (Kayla) cannot tell you how excited we are for a new photography journey God has led us to, and what we’re calling “Love Heals.” Before I go into too much detail, I want to tell you the story behind it. My husband, Mike, and I participated in the Doing What Jesus Did (DWJD) class at our church, Northwoods Community Church. DWJD is such an amazing class that has brought my husband and I closer to God by teaching us how to hear from God, pray for healing, tell our story of how we became Christians, and so much more! I know pursuing my photography career and quitting my corporate job was something God wanted me to do.
I love photographing weddings and families, but have been trying to find a way to serve God and His word through my career. During the DWJD class, God spoke to me and I finally had clarification as to how to serve Him through photography. We are meant to tell the stories of those He has healed and saved emotionally and/or physically. God works and heals in SO many different ways, and each person has their own unique and miraculous story that needs to be shared with the world.
Erika and I plan to interview strangers, acquaintances, family members, and friends to document their story and shed the grace and love that God has for each and every human being — as we were each delicately made by our Creator. We have all been at our lowest low and our highest high, and God is with us through every stage of it, holding out His hand for us to take and to trust Him — to be healed.
So, come along with Erika and I on this journey and stay tuned for some amazing stories! We are absolutely still photographing weddings and lifestyle portrait sessions (because we love photographing those special moments!), but had to share this exciting news.
If you would like to take part in this journey and share your story, please contact us! If you know of someone who you think would like to take part, please share the details with them. No matter your life obstacles, every story is worth sharing. Through “Love Heals,” you have the power to touch lives!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29: 11-13
